Past Presidents Message
From Past President
Andrew Romero
As I look back at my year as president of the Greeley Rotary Club I have many to thank for their commitment and support of the many wonderful services we provided and continue to provide to our community and internationally. Our theme this year was “Rotary Shares” and I know many of you shared Rotary with passion, caring, and pride.
The following activities are just a taste of how our club members shared Rotary:
Welcomed sixteen new members along with new Paul Harris and W.D. Farr fellows
ThThrough a matching Grant our club was able to partner with Karkala (India) Rotary Clubs to provide safe drinking water and sanitation to the KSPM Government High School in Pervaje, Karkala, Kanataka, India.
ØContinued donation of medical supplies to Dr. Mendoza for her two medical clinics in Juarez, Mexico.
Ø Funding provided to Kids Across American (KAA) supported the exchange of 6 kids between Greeley and Sarasota, Florida.
Ø Member and Board support (time and funds) was provided to the Northern Colorado Honor Flight to take WWII Veterans to Washington DC to view the WWII Memorial and participate in several events.
Ø The Annual WD Farr Gala was successful in raising funds for the WD Farr Foundation.
Ø Funding of the Weld School District 6 Science Project for the next three years using available WD Farr foundation funds.
Ø Scholarships awarded to five High School senior students and one high school student at Trademark School.
Ø Awarded RYLA Scholarships to 14 youth to attend the annual RYLA symposium.
Ø Provided funding to the Book Trust to give books to elementary students to take home and share with siblings.
As I remember July 11, 2007 when I was handed the gavel I knew I was faced with the daunting task of leading this great club. For me this has been a truly wonderful experience. Thank you all for the privilege of serving as your leader this past year. I hope it was as enjoyable a year for you as it was for me.
Yours in Rotary,
Andrew Romero
President 2007-2008
